This is a hugely powerful, neodymium "rare earth" magnet. This type is about 10 times more powerful than traditional ferrite or ceramic magnets.

Dimensions: 50mm diameter x 40mm long. The biggest we stock. Nickel plated for durability. North and south poles are on the flat faces.

The strength rating is N45, significantly stronger than the N35 often sold in NZ.

This one is massively strong. Specs say that it would take about 130 kg pull to remove it directly from a sheet of 8 mm steel plate. To be honest I'm scared to test its strength like that, because I'd surely hurt myself... As you can see from our other auctions, a magnet 200 times smaller will pick up a hammer.

WARNINGS!

I USUALLY say that there are many things you can do with super strong magnets, such as:

- Make motors, generators, school science projects.
- Frictionless springs
- Kinetic art sculptures.
- Holding products for display.
- Clamp components while gluing.
- Fun present or educational science gift

But NO! Be truly afraid of this magnet. I cannot think of ANY appropriate domestic use for it. (I do use one myself, along with large steel balls, for rolling dents out of saxophone bodies!)

This magnet is REALLY DANGEROUS!

It, and another magnet or steel object, can fly together and collide at enormous speed, crushing or cutting any flesh or small bones in the way, and possibly shattering the magnet, shooting out sharp fragments. I know this from painful, scary experience.

Keep it well away from all electrical and electronic devices such as TV, computer, tapes, credit card etc.
