This is a pack of six massively powerful, neodymium rare earth, magnets. Size is a 12 mm cube.
The strength rating is N45. Most magnets sold in NZ are N35 (which is significantly weaker).
Neodymium magnets are about 10 times more powerful than normal ferrite magnets.
The second photo shows a solid steel cylinder of 8.4kg and an anvil of 5kg being easily lifted, using a steel bar across the top of two magnets.
They have a pull of around 7.8 kg to each other, and also to smooth, flat, solid steel. So they can be really mean at nipping fingers and clothing. They are pretty much impossible to pull directly apart using hands, so they need to be slid apart.
Their strength and corners make them rather too nasty to be play things, but for a special purpose... Wow!
If you orient the magnets until they repel, you get a true idea of just how strong they are.
Possible uses:

- clamp components while gluing.
- magnets within motors or generators.
- simple spring mechanisms.
There are literally hundreds of uses for super strong magnets, limited only by your imagination.
