Dangerous Magnets Ltd is your helpful & reputable source for incredibly strong neodymium magnets.
This is a pack of 4 magnets of a special configuration known as “pot” magnets, “cup” magnets, or “cup holder” magnets. (“Pot” & “cup” refer to the magnet’s construction)
As per the photo, they are disc magnets which are cupped in steel, which concentrates and localises the magnetic field to a ring-shaped area on a single flat face. They show little attraction unless they are quite close to a steel surface, but against such a surface, their pull is very strong for their size.
They are quite a specialized magnet, specifically for cupboard doors, drawers in caravans and boats, for holding panels or fixtures to steel walls and ceilings etc, or where stray magnetic fields need to be kept low. (They are also suitable for repelling from each other but not for attracting to each other.)
In typical situations each magnet has a holding force of about 14kg . Resistance to sliding is about 1/3 that, but this depends on the friction characteristics of the surface.
They have a durable, black finish.
Dimensions: 25mm diameter, 8mm thick, with 5.2mm countersunk mounting hole.
If these are too big or strong, then consider our smaller “pot” magnets… D16x5 mm & D20x7 mm, or our D20x5 mm standard disc magnets (with hole).
Neodymium magnets are about 10 times more powerful than normal ferrite magnets. The "grade" of these is N38.
There are hundreds of uses for super strong magnets, limited only by your imagination.
Warning: Keep a safe distance, i.e. where the field is negligible, from electrical and magnetic devices such as TV, computer, tapes, credit card etc. But for their specialised use, that is unlikely to be an issue.
