This is a massively powerful, neodymium "rare earth", disc magnet.
Dimensions: 40mm diameter, 10mm thick, with a 4.2 mm countersunk hole for convenient attachment.
When in contact with plate steel, or a similar magnet, they have a direct pull of about 28 kg. The push or pull between two of these magnets is the same. Between two plates of steel, in ideal conditions, their pull is over 56 kg!
They are excellent for securely attaching all manner of fixtures to steel. Good for holding a steel door or gate open.
The strength rating is N45. Most magnets sold in NZ are N35, which is significantly weaker.
Neodymium magnets are about 10 times more powerful than normal ferrite magnets.
Increase power even more by stacking two or more. But beware... the danger increases.
This size/strength of this magnet mean that it is not a toy. Uses will be specific and mainly commercial.
WARNING: These magnets are dangerous. When they crash together or against a steel object, they can crush any body tissue that is in the way, damage clothing, and also shatter, causing sharp edges. Chips can be launched. Also, make sure you keep them a sensible distance (i.e. such that the field has become negligible) from electronic devices, especially those with memory.
